User Chat
Enable PowerUpUser Chat is the itemit PowerUp for team messaging inside your asset register, shown as Messaging in the app. It works by giving the workspace one shared channel where anyone can post, reply in threads, @mention a colleague or mention an item so the message links to that asset. The main use cases are flagging a fault on a specific item, coordinating handovers and keeping decisions about equipment where the equipment is recorded. Common features include threaded replies, item and user mentions, unread notifications in the header and a notifications pane with mark-all-read. The key benefit is that asset conversations stay attached to assets instead of scattering across email and WhatsApp. Note that it is one shared channel rather than private messaging, so treat it as a workshop noticeboard, not an inbox.
The Problem
Conversations about assets scatter across email, WhatsApp and hallway exchanges. By the time somebody needs to know why a machine was pulled from service, the reasoning is in a thread nobody can find and half the people involved have left.
The Solution
Asset conversations happen next to the assets, with mentions linking messages to specific items. New colleagues can read back through the channel instead of asking the same questions again.
In Action
An engineer posts in the workspace channel that a laser level is reading badly, mentions the item so the message links to its record, and mentions the workshop lead. The lead replies in the thread with the recalibration date, and the exchange stays attached to the asset.
