Weather App
Enable PowerUpWeather App is an itemit PowerUp that shows current conditions and the forecast for an asset's location on the item profile. It works by taking a default location for the workspace, or a location you override for the session, and displaying today's weather, an hourly outlook and a multi-day forecast on the asset record. The main use cases are planning outdoor work, deciding whether to book equipment out for a site day and checking conditions before a crew travels. Common features include temperature, feels-like, humidity, wind and UV index, a Celsius or Fahrenheit setting and the session override. The key benefit is that the forecast sits next to the kit it concerns, so the decision and the equipment are on one screen.
The Problem
Decisions about outdoor work get made against a weather app on somebody's phone, separately from the system holding the equipment those decisions concern. The two never quite line up.
The Solution
Conditions sit on the asset record itself. Open a piece of outdoor equipment and the forecast for where it is working is already on the page, with no second tab and no guessing at the postcode.
In Action
A surveyor checks a GPS rover's profile before booking it out, sees heavy rain and a high wind reading in the hourly outlook for the site, and moves the survey to Thursday.
