Asset Valuation
Enable PowerUpAsset Valuation is asset valuation software built into itemit: a PowerUp that records what each asset cost and what it is worth now, on the asset record itself. It works by storing a purchase price, currency and purchase date per item, then deriving the current value either as a straight-line percentage per year of the purchase price, prorated daily, or as a figure you enter by hand. The main use cases are insurance renewals, audits and finance requests for the value of the register. Common features include a workspace valuation report with per-currency subtotals, last-seen date and location on every row, CSV import and PDF export. Mixed currencies subtotal separately rather than being forced into one rate, and the import tolerates thousands separators and currency symbols, so an existing spreadsheet usually goes in unchanged.
The Problem
Insurers, auditors and finance teams all ask what your assets are worth, and the answer usually lives in a spreadsheet nobody has opened since the last renewal. It drifts out of step with what the organisation actually owns, and it cannot tell you whether a given item still exists.
The Solution
Value sits on the asset record next to the tracking data, so the system that proves an item exists is the same one that says what it is worth. Straight-line values move on their own as time passes, and the report exports as a PDF you can hand straight to an insurer or auditor.
In Action
A facilities manager imports last year's valuation spreadsheet as a CSV, sets a straight-line rate on the equipment that loses value annually, and exports a PDF for the insurance renewal. The report shows current value per item, a subtotal for each currency, and the date each asset was last scanned.
Key Features
- Record purchase price, currency and purchase date against any item
- Derive current value automatically using a straight-line percentage per year, prorated daily and floored at zero
- Or set the current value by hand when a professional valuation should override the calculation
- Workspace report covering item, serial, description, purchase price, purchase date and current value
- Last seen date, location and user on every row, so value and existence are checked together
- Per-currency subtotals, with no assumption that the register uses a single currency
- Import existing valuations from CSV, tolerant of thousands separators, currency symbols and mixed date formats
- Export the report as a PDF covering the current view or a selection of up to 1,000 items
- Unvalued items panel showing which assets still need a figure
